This Little Wiggy Treks Kokoda 2014
Story
Courage, Endurance. Mateship. Sacrifice.
These words are inscribed on a memorial at one end of the Kokoda Track, to commemorate the heroism of Australian soldiers in turning back advancing Japanese forces intent on taking Port Moresby in 1942. Now the route they used in one of the most legendary military campaigns Australia has ever known, is not just a world-famous trekking trail but a portal back in time.
I have decided to make a difference by taking on this challenge to help raise money for The Sir David Martin Foundation.
Established in 1991, the foundation funds effective programs to help the most marginalised and troubled young Australians turn their lives around. Not only do we offer much-needed care and rehabilitation to young people struggling with issues such as homelessness, substance addiction, mental illness, abuse, crime and social isolation, we provide them with life skills, education and vocational training. They believe, such holistic care is the key to helping Australia’s young people transform their lives and reach their full potential.

Sir David Martin Foundation
Sir David Martin Foundation was set up in 1990 by the much loved Governor of New South Wales, Sir David Martin, four days prior to his death. The Foundation aims to realise the dream of Sir David Martin of an Australian community “where children can grow up in safety with hope and opportunity”. The Foundation raises funds for innovative and effective Mission Australia run youth crisis programs. We provide care, counselling, training and support for young people in crisis and foster community understanding of their needs and potential. With the goal to get more young people off the streets, away from unhealthy situations and into care and rehabilitation. We aim to encourage them in a new sense of self belief so that they can face the community at large without the need for drugs, crime and homelessness.
